During the course of his lifetime (1770–1827), Ludwig van Beethoven enjoyed relationships with many of his musical contemporaries. Beethoven was famously difficult to get along with, and the history of his relationships with contemporaries is littered with arguments, misunderstandings, and reconciliations. What is the nature of life? What does life mean to you? Is there a purpose? If we seek jobs, all we will find are jobs. But if we have a sense of purpose in how we are productive; if we seek a calling, then we will find more than a job. We will find our contribution to humanity and we will find more to life. So it should be noted that to be happy in life isn’t always enough, because happiness is a surge of emotions that does not last. Instead, it’s more important to find and have meaning in life. Learn more about the difference between being happy and having meaning as Smith offers four pillars of a meaningful life.

But that raised some questions for me. Is there more to life than being happy? And what’s the difference between being happy and having meaning in life?

Revival' implies prior life, yet no reference to Bach or to his music is known to have been made in England during his lifetime (1685-1750). The book begins with a comprehensive chronology of the English Bach Awakening. There is much to interest both the general reader and the musicologist in this collection of twenty essays.
