Nom civil: William McKinley Hutchinson. Profil: American vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. Born December 6, 1944, in Los Angeles, died September 19, 2005, in Dallas. Best remembered for The Mack soundtrack, he also worked with many Motown artists, including The Jackson 5 for whom he co-wrote the hit I’ll Be There.

William McKinley Hutchison (December 6, 1944 – September 19, 2005), better known as Willie Hutch, was an American singer, songwriter as well as a record producer and recording artist for the Motown record label during the 1970s and 1980s. Born in 1944 in Los Angeles, Hutch was raised in Dallas, Texas. He joined the high school choral group, The Ambassadors, as a teenager.

Hutch signed with RCA records in 1969 where he released two albums, Soul Portrait in 1969 and Season For Love in 1970. He was then noticed by Motown producer Hal Davis who asked him to write lyrics for the Jackson 5 song I’ll Be There. Hutch was signed to Motown as a staff writer, producer, arranger and musician by Motown CEO Berry Gordy after the success of I’ll Be There. In 1973 he released Fully Exposed and recorded and produced the soundtrack for the blaxploitation film The Mack. Willie Hutch died on September 19th, 2005. He was 60 years old. His legacy lives on through his music and his six children. Popular Willie Hutch songs. Brothers Gonna Work It Out.

One of the unsung heroes of 1970s soul, Willie Hutch was never the big name he deserved to be. The smooth singer/composer had a few major and moderate hits, but commercially, he didn't make it to the level of Marvin Gaye, Ronald Isley, and Curtis Mayfield (all of whom he inspires comparisons to). Released in late 1998, The Very Best of Willie Hutch spans 1972-1982 and reminds us how engaging a singer he was in his heyday

Album · 1973 · 9 Songs. Though it may have been eclipsed (saleswise) by Shaft and Superfly, Willie Hutch delivers his own masterpiece with this audio companion to the Blaxploitation classic starring Max Julien and Richard Pryor. Like both of those albums, The Mack plays out the film's storyline, taking you into the sultry but dangerous world of pimps, prostitutes, pushers, and police
