Until Drake dropped it as an album it was being hinted at as a mixtape. Darren is a rhythmic prodigy of sorts, his music could be stripped of all harmony and melody and would probably work based on the rhythmic interactions and drum tones alone. Less strictly Footwork influenced than his last Orange Milk album, ‘He’s Not Real’, ‘It’s Never Too Late To Say You’re Welcome’ is more expansive and colorful, mixing huge triplet kick drums against digital mallet tones and contrasting general-MIDI sounds. Never Too Late is best remembered today as drummer John Coghlan's final album with the band he'd served since the early '60s. Neither is what one would describe as a classic Quo disc, but nor are they as disposable as some of the band's later releases.
The only time it’s too late is when you’re dead and that’s the harsh truth that you probably will find hard to see while you’re still alive. For me, I’ve already seen what life can look like from a hospital bed and I ain’t ever staying in that place again. Stop waiting for the right time. Don’t worry about thinking about when you should get started.
