Pacific Fire," released in 1983, appears to be material leftover from the 1975 sessions (spread over several months) that produced Benson's "Good King Ba. Leftover, maybe, but pretty good, and in a couple cases, just as good as what was originally released. This catches Benson at the end of his CTI period, just before his crossover success, and it's a guitar album - there's one vocal, "Moody's Mood," but the rest is strictly instrumental (and even that vocal track has a nice piano solo from Sir Roland Hanna)

Pacific Fire is an archival studio album by George Benson on CTI Records. This album consists of unreleased tracks recorded during the Good King Bad sessions. However, unlike Benson's other CTI recordings, this album remains out of print because Sony Music Entertainment does not own the rights to this album.
As long as George Benson was a hot commodity on Warner Bros. and Creed Taylor still had control over his tottering CTI label, the flow of recycled and unreleased Benson product from his old label kept on coming. But oh, how a few years make a difference in the packaging, for the luxurious glossy gatefold covers of CTI's glory days were replaced by a bare-bones, sparsely illustrated paperboard sleeve that smacks of cost-cutting.
