Seconds Before Landing II" is the second album to be issued under this project name, and was self-released towards the end of 2014. Those who treasured the debut album by this project is in for a slight surprise on this second album by Crispino and the musicians he have chosen to work with here, as he has chosen to move away from the the dark, oppressive atmospheres of the debut album. Not that this is a light and jubilant production per se, but it is a different one, where the darkness in mood isn't as totally dominating.

Seconds Before Landing is the brainchild of musician John Crispino. In the year 2010, Crispino began writing music for a progressive rock concept album, that was finished and released to critical acclaim in 2012.

Landing continue their songwriting surge possibly drafting their best set yet. Avoiding a bit of the trying-too-hard production excess I've just heard on the Black Hearted Brother album, this landing EP pretty much offers it all while creating something new (and certainly Landing) and a pop record right from the start. The bass sound debuted on the Geographic North full-length is brought to the front and the sound a cleaner pop than before. Either Adrienne or Aaron Snow take vox and you still can't figure any lyrics out (fine by me). The EP works it's way from serious post-punk pop with the latter cuts a bit more Cocteau or FSA atmospherics and minimalist approach. "Cyst" is especially nice having me wondering "is this Dave Pierce?" And then the bass line arrives with several more layers of synth and guitar washes and you know this can't be FSA. "Sphere II's staccato guitar lines reminds of early 2000's ambient landing for the first few minutes before morphing into a nearly aggressive pop song seemingly with Vini Reilly and the Yamaha machines he was given for his own landmark '86 Factory LP. Such a great cassette. If Landing would allow themselves to be marketed on a label such as Kranky, they could receive the distribution and attention their current incarnation deserves. One of my favorite "old" bands still active today.
