Before Electric Light Orchestra exploded onto the scene with their 1975 Face The Music album, they were enjoying some small success with a series of albums in the early 1970’s. One of the earliest hits the band had was the sentimental grooving ballad Can’t Get It Out Of My Head. The song was released on the 1974 album entitled Eldorado. The great rocking track Showdown, was released on the band’s third album, On The Third Da. he record was released in 1973. Over the years the song Showdown, became one of the most exciting songs the band performed in concert . The mighty sound of Electric Light Orchestra was showcased early in the band’s career with the great track 10538 Overture. This wonderful piece of music was released on the band’s debut album. It stood as the opening song on the album.
Early Years" focuses on rare and previously unreleased tracks recorded for the legendary Harvest Record label between 1971 and 1973, Including Quadraphonic mixes, early alternate takes and live material. Peter Mew at Abbey Road Studios has remastered all songs under the approval and direction of ELO leader Jeff Lynne. Previously unreleased versions of the hit singles "Showdown" and ELO’s 1972 debut "10538 Overture" are included, as well as an early session version of "Ma-Ma-Ma Belle" recorded at George Martin's Air Studios in 1973
Electric Light Orchestra. Lynne was still a member of The Move, alongside Roy Wood and future ELO drummer Bev Bevan, when he wrote what became the very first ELO song, 10538 Overture. With Wood playing a cheap Chinese cello, multi- tracked by Lynne, it sounded to Wood like: a monster heavy metal orchestra. 10538 Overture soon became the new group’s mission statement, the opening fanfare on a debut album described by Melody Maker as a gas.
