Green Day is an American rock band formed in 1986 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt. For much of the band's career, they have been a trio with drummer Tré Cool, who replaced John Kiffmeyer in 1990 prior to the recording of the band's second studio album, Kerplunk (1991). Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at the DIY 924 Gilman Street club in Berkeley, California. The band's early releases were with the independent record label Lookout! Records

The album is self-produced by Green Day, recorded by Chris Dugan, mixed by Andrew Scheps, and mastered by Eric Boulanger at Bakery Mastering. TRÉ! Released: December 11, 2012 The third and final album in Green Day's 2012 trilogy. It was meant to sound "larger" than the other two albums (similar to the sound of American Idiot). Billie Joe described this album as "the hangover after the party. This album is named after the band's drummer, Tré, as a play on the word "tres" (three in Spanish)

Cigarettes and Valentines is an unreleased studio album by American punk rock band Green Day. The album would have been the follow-up to Warning (2000). In November 2002, the album was nearly finished when the master tapes were mysteriously stolen from the band's studio. Instead of re-recording the album, the band decided to start from scratch, leading to the creation of American Idiot (2004).

Green Day rocks the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 with its third chart-topping album, Revolution Radio. The band’s 12th studio effort enters atop the list with 95,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Oct. 13, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 90,000 were in traditional album sales. Green Day last led the Billboard 200 more than seven years ago, with 21st Century Breakdown. That set debuted atop the chart dated May 30, 2009 and spent one week in the penthouse. Before that, the band's first No. 1, American Idiot, racked up three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 back in 2004 and 2005. After 21st Century Breakdown, the band’s next studio project was the expansive Uno!, Dos!, Tre! series - three studio albums released in quick succession in late 2012.

Green Day first achieved popularity in the 1990s with a string of successful albums. Following disappointing sales of their sixth album, Warning (2000), the band took a break before recording their next album, titled Cigarettes and Valentines. The recording process was cut short when the album’s master tapes were stolen. Rather than re-record that material, the group decided to start over. A concept album dubbed a punk rock opera by the band members, American Idiot follows the story of Jesus of Suburbia, a lower-middle-class American adolescent anti-hero.

Green Day was originally recording an album called Cigarettes and Valentines, but after the master tapes were stolen, Green Day ought to start over from scratch and created the album we see today. The band took a three-month break and started from scratch to make American Idiot instead. In 2016 it was confirmed they found the Master Tapes for Cigarettes and Valentines but they aren’t going to publicly release them and instead use them as a basis for new songs. American Idiot Q&A

Hey Green Day. I've been listening to your music for around five years now, and I can say that although I like a good amount of songs from other artists, your music is the only music that consistently strikes a chord with me, from 1039 to RevRad. Somehow, nearly everything you guys make is quality material. Anyways, I normally don't ask questions in AMAs since there's such a slim chance that I'd ever be answered, but I'm asking here because this is probably my closest chance at interaction with you guys, since I can't afford concerts and stuff like that. Huge Green Day fan here, and super stoked to see you guys play at the Aragon Ballroom on Oct. 23rd. I am taking my little brother along with me to his first Green Day concert ever. Couple questions for you. In this Rolling Stone interview Billie mentioned that he plays bow guitar on songs like Outlaws and Forever now.

Some of my other favourites album by album would be: -Haven't heard anything from their first two albums. Dookie gave us the aforementioned Basket Case, Welcome to Paradise, When I Come Around, Longview and She. I must say imo all the songs on the album are great. I've only heard bits and pieces from Insomniac though what I have heard I thought was decent, not amazing but not the worst that could be done. One of their other signature hits, this song is about being lonely and alone because you feel no one is there for you. The tune of this song really fits the lyrics. Many Green Day fans know this song, probably the first Green Day song they heard. I personally think all their songs are the best, but I am going for the songs everyone (and fans) love(s).

Revolution Radio is Green Day‘s first album in 15 years with no extra twist – no high concept, no triple LP – but it’s full of fiery politics and big emotions
