The Equals are a British pop, R&B and rock group formed in North London, England in 1965. They are best remembered for their million-selling chart-topper "Baby, Come Back", though they had several other chart hits in the UK and Europe. Eddy Grant founded the group with Pat Lloyd, John Hall, and brothers Derv and Lincoln Gordon, and they were noted as being "the first major interracial rock group in the UK" and "one of the few racially mixed bands of the era".
The Equals – Unequalled Equals. Due to the racist South African policies at the time, their debut album was issued without the photo of the famous multi-racial five piece. Every other country of issue used that photo in one manner or another, but not South Africa. A drawing of a domino was used instead.

In 1980, The Clash recorded a cover version of The Equals' song "Police On My Back" (a track from the group's Baby, Come Back album). In 2006 Willie Nile released his cover of "Police on My Back" on his Streets of New York CD. The Equals' song "Green Light" was covered by The Detroit Cobras, on their 2007 album, Tied &.
