The album of Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" is from a live concert in July 2017 in Baden-Baden, Germany. Festspielhaus Baden-Baden). September 17, 2018 Updated: September 20, 2018. Tito has a series of arias that operate on a different dramatic plane than the other characters, and I have heard a number of performances of this opera where Tito comes over as beautifully sung but boring. Certainly, Rolando Villazón is never boring on this disc. He slides around the notes, bending pitch expressively, and uses a dramatic style that would not be amiss in late 19th- and early 20th-century Italian opera.
