Quadrophenia - Album Art Lyrics. The album explores four aspects of one character, exemplified by the members of The Who: A tough guy, Helpless Dancer (Roger Daltrey). A romantic, Is It Me? (John Entwistle). A bloody lunatic, Bell Boy (Keith Moon). A beggar, a hypocrite, Love Reign O'er Me (Pete Townshend). Quadrophenia Q&A.

Quadrophenia was originally released as a double album by Track Records in November 1973 (Track 2657 013). Released to coincide with The Who’s first UK and US tours for two years, it reached in both countries’ album charts. The first CD version (Polydor 831 072-2) was released in the early 1980s, followed by a remastered double CD in 1996 (Polydor 531 971-2). In the US it was released in October 1973 (MCA2 10004), followed by a CD (MCA MCAD 2-6895), a remastered gold disc (MFSL UDCD 2-550) and in 1996, a remixed and remastered version (MCA MCAD2-11463)

Pete Townshend becomes more than just a great rhythm guitarist on this album and provides many great lead moments, especially in the two instrumental pieces (Quadrophenia and The Rock). John Entwistle is at his creative best bass-wise, offering many incredibly tricky and unforgettably catchy basslines (and for those who've gotten the treat to see the live bass solo that's always been included in 5'15, you get to see the Ox really cut loose).

Quadrophenia is the soundtrack album to the 1979 film Quadrophenia which refers to the 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia. It was initially released on Polydor Records in 1979 as a cassette and LP and was re-released as a compact disc in 1993 and 2001. The album was dedicated to Peter Meaden, a prominent Mod and first manager of The Who, who had died a year prior to the album's release. The album contains ten of the seventeen tracks from the original rock opera Quadrophenia (as not all of the tracks were used in the film). The soundtrack also includes three tracks by The Who that did not appear on the 1973 album – "Four Faces", "Get Out and Stay Out" and "Joker James". The latter two songs marked Kenney Jones's first on-record appearance with the Who after taking over on drums for the late Keith Moon. YouTube Encyclopedic.

spoiler: a pill-popping druggie drives his little scooter off the edge of a cliff at 2 miles an hour and makes about a half foot distance and falls straight down because the world won't cater to his expectations. the end. good riddance. A precursor of the current Z-generation. Zzzzzz.

I think you're thinking of the 1979 movie, not this album from 1973.

I have a copy of quadrophenia on tracks label similar to this listing with "track deluxe double" on spine and booklet printed in Holland BUT with the following runout etchings (hand etched and not machine stamped) : WHO S1 / WHO S2 / WHO S3 / WHO S4. Is it a counterfaint version not listed on discogs or another variant of the UK press ?

When I was a child, I came across a Quadrophenia album, and I can remember such album included after "Love, Reign O'er Me" one or two additional songs that had nothing to do with The Who. I'd like to know which songs were these and which releases have them. Anybody knows?

If you look at the Japanese release , catalog number UICY-94781,it contains several songs at the end of the disc by artist like Booker T and the M.G.’s, The Ronettes and The Kingsman. This edition is just The Who songs! I prefer the Original Soundtrack mentioned above over this edition. But I’m a huge Pete Townsend! This is mostly his project if I’m correct! But the original movie soundtrack has the extra songs and a different cover!

I'm guessing quadrophenia soundtrack side 4 are non Who songs. adereyna When I was a child, I came across a Quadrophenia album, and I can remember such album included after "Love, Reign O'er Me" one or two additional songs that had nothing to do with The Who. I saw this listed for 100 quid at a shop in england ..whilst on here can be found for next to nothing

Yet to my surprise the only track not included in this album " My Generation " which features heavily in the film ... Sorta like The Killing Fields without John Lennons Imagine ,,,not included on the Soundtrack

For me this is by far the most powerful piece of music ever created and Pete Townshend will hold a special place in my heart forever for giving us this gift. Watching the Quadrophenia tour in 2013 was probably the most emotional night of my life

Could someone recommend which CD of Quadrophenia has the best sound quality/mastering? There are so many different versions of it, I have no idea which to buy! Thanks.

Ce
Thanks for the reply bootsone, looks like I made the right decision then! Bought it a few months ago. Those deluxe editions are always great, and the bonus demos are a good listen too - Love Reign O'er Me is an excellent demo version.

Hope I'm not too late answering...the best version is the Deluxe Edition 2 CD set from 2011. Remastered by Pete. Look up the Amazon reviews and you'll find out why. It's Stellar! Cheers.
