Giles Corey began as a collection of acoustic songs written by Dan Barrett (of Have A Nice Life and Nahvalr). Then, he nearly killed himself.

After being arrested, Corey refused to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. He was subjected to pressing in an effort to force him to plead-the only example of such a sanction in American history-and died after three days of this torture.

Giles Corey was recorded between 2008 and 2010, in various bedrooms around Connecticut. Would love to have this album. Willing to pay around 40$. Contact me if you are selling.

I would say this is definitely at least on par with the digital version. The quieter moments in the album sound like they have more dynamic range and better mixing overall. You're able to pick out the different instrumentation more on vinyl than digital. There is one drawback I've noticed though. The parts where the music gets loud, specifically on the songs Blackest Bile, No One Is Ever Going To Want Me and Buried Above Ground, lack the "punch" of the digital version. For example, on Blackest Bile, when the bass kick comes in after the 3 minute mark, it sounds more subdued and softer on this pressing than it does digitally. I did a little bit of comparison on Buried Above Ground where I listened to the vinyl then the digital and confirmed the difference though it isn't huge. With that being said, I don't think this aspect detracts significantly from the record. It's still a good pressing and I'm definitely happy with the way it came out. I'll just be turning the volume up a little when the louder moments come. The box it comes in is decently sturdy, as is the foam holding the book. The records are held in paper sleeves with some nice eerie artwork on them. I would have liked to have had them in a gatefold though.

Was this offered anywhere?

The Flenser had test pressings of this, Black Wing's "...Is Doomed," Botanist's "VI: Flora," Grayceon's “Pearl and The End of Days," Eight Bells' "The Captain's Daughter," Have A Nice Life's "The Unnatural World," Bell Witch's "Demo 2011," Bosse-de-Nage's "All Fours," Planning For Burial's "Leaving," King Woman's "Doubt," Mamaleek's "Via Dolorosa," and Mastery's "VALIS" for sale on Black Friday this year. They were $40 to $60 or so if I remember correctly.

Disappointed that it's two loose sleeves and not a gatefold housing the LPs. Other than that a beatiful peesentation of the album.

As far as I know this was a very expensive release for Dan, and he probably didn't want to make it too expensive.
