I can only be grateful to Goethe and encourage everyone to read The Sorrows of Young Werther. Also, if you like it enough or even if you hate it - you should check out Before I was halfway through this book I had already connected with it on a deep level. I didn’t know what was going to happen in the end but I knew Goethe was telling my story and the opposite of my story at the same time. It says much for Young Werther that I found the follow up to the title story more of an engaging read. Reflections on Werther is an interesting psychological analysis that explores the reasons for deep melancholy, and the subsequent journey into depression that some find unavoidable.
